I would like to thank the members of the Nanaimo Yacht Club for choosing me as your Commodore for 2023. I started with the Nanaimo Yacht Club as a junior member in 1989 and became a regular member in 2000.
I spent many enjoyable years as a kid cruising with my family. I can remember going to the Corn Roasts and having the time of my life cruising around in my parents dinghy and of course playing horseshoes. Being part of the junior program is a great way to get knowledge of the many activities including cruises and other Club functions.
As most of you know, I am a second generation Commodore, following my dad PC Wayne Reis who was Commodore in 2007.
Without volunteers our club would not be the way it is today. Volunteers do such great work in all aspects of the Club, whether it is flipping burgers, running events, working on committees or serving on the Executive. Without volunteerism we wouldn't have such an amazing place to call ours. So please reach out to a committee chair this year to see where you can help out.
Serina and I look forward to seeing everyone on the docks, out cruising, or attending the many functions of the Club. Hopefully this year we can get to know one another.
Cruise safe,
Jeff Reis
