The Basil Hobbs Memorial SIN Regatta 2016, July 1-3
The SIN Regatta offers great racing, serious fun, and fantastic value!
Beginning in 2016, the Nanaimo Yacht Club's Snake Island Nanaimo Regatta will be known as: The Basil Hobbs Memorial SIN Regatta. This title sponsorship is in honour of the passion Basil exhibited across multiple facets of his life. He worked tirelessly in leadership roles and behind the scenes on behalf of maritime safety, education, security, and other aspects affecting the professional and recreational marine world.
Basil served as NYC Commodore 2010/2011, and as SIN chairman for 3 years. His passion extended to the boats he sailed and maintained in bristol condition: Spirit of Cutty Sark and Windward Passage.
Basil's contributions to the Nanaimo Yacht Club, and the greater maritime community, can not be easily measured. We are honoured to have his name become part of our annual Regatta.
Registration
Regular registration is just $85, and this is reduced to $65 for early-birds completing registration and payment before June 1st. See below for details of a special early-bird prize... a chance to win a $320 high-end VHF handheld!

Race Documents
Early-bird Registration Prize
Boats that have completed registration prior to June 1st will be entered in a draw to win a Standard Horizon HX870 waterproof DSC/GPS handheld VHF radio. Prize details at the Standard Horizon website.
This type of DSC/VHF handheld radio is now a requirement for all categories of PIYA racing... which means we all need to carry at least one of these onboard.

- 1600-2000: Registration check-in at the NYC clubhouse
- 1700-2200: NYC Party on the Docks, early-bird prize draw, etc.
Saturday, July 2
- 0700-0800: Registration check-in continues (cut-off time: 0800)
- 0700-0800: Breakfast (upper Hall)
- 0830: Competitors meeting
- 1025: Warning signal for the first race of the day
- 1700: Steak BBQ dinner
Sunday, July 3
- 0700-0800: Breakfast (upper Hall)
- 1025: Warning signal for the first race of the day
- 1600: Results and awards presentation
