Spring Series Race Day 4 - April 19

A great day of racing in Nanaimo on Sunday.   The wind was from the NW as Big Wave Dave says is the best direction and blowing a consistent 10 - 15 knots true.   The race committee decided to run two races of a little longer length so the boats could stretch their legs.
 
The first was a race to P15 to a leeward mark back to Five Fingers.   To make the upwind legs more true, the leeward mark was placed farther out from shore than is typical.   The mark boat sat close to the leeward mark to increase the mark's visibility.  The race tracker tells the rest of the story nicely.
 
The second race was a race to Five Fingers and then downwind is the best wind to Entrance Island and a good reach back to with a short up wind to finish at the Yacht Club.
