Race Day 1 - March 17

Great start to the Spring Series with 2 races in wind and sunshine.  It was a crowded start in the first race as everyone seemed to want the outside end of the line to get into the freshening breeze.  It was a quick race: upwind to P15, down to the leeward mark and back to the finish line.  The second race was back up to P15, this time leaving it to starboard, a reach out to Snake Island Bell Buoy, and then back to Gallows before heading up in the harbour, always a fan favorite, to finish off of the NYC Docks.  Races were done well within Terry's Fun Factor Time Limit making it another great day on the water.

Both races have been posted on TackTracker.

Thanks to Rick Saunders for the on the water photos today.

Race Day 2 - March 24

It was another lovely day to be on the water.  Light southeast winds were sometimes challenging but we managed to get two races in, and the sun came out for the second race.  Both divisions went to a windward mark at Jack Point then to P15 for the first race.  The second race saw Division 1 (thanks for the new flags, Paul!) head to P15, round Snake bell buoy then back to the harbour for a Yacht Club finish.  We took pity on Division 2, who went to P15 then finished.  But all boats finished around the same time, which was lovely for photo taking.  You'll see the photos are in order of sequence, which is why the first ones are quite dark and the last ones finished in sunshine!

Race Day 3 - April 7

With a blustery day on the water the fleet suffered from shrinkage as the day progressed with the limits of various equipment and sails discovered, and man overboard drills expertly executed.  Today's Division 2 hero was Alacrity, battling closely with Aeolus for miles in the first race and hanging it all out for a second race with an especially impressive finish time.

In Division 1, two races were completed by four boats.  Race one saw a tight pack of all four boats at the finish line after some terrific spinnaker shenanigans.  In Race two, Dilligaf claimed a top speed of the day with a 16.66 knot surf under spinnaker and then fell back while tucking in a reef rounding Entrance Island. At the final windward mark it was Cu Na Mara, followed by Ion, Dilligaf and Tantivy cheered on by a freighter and charging across the finish line.  A great day on the water.

Race Day 5 - April 28

Last Club Race of the spring
The day turned out to be unexpectedly nice. The sun shone through the racing period, temperature was balmy. And to the delight of the racers the wind blew a steady 10 kn NNE all through the first race. The first race took the fleet of ten boats; combined Div.1 and Div.2 beat to P15, reached to Five Fingers, ran to Snake Island and broad reached to finish. Div. 2 fleet in spite of slow going around Five Fingers finished except one. Elapsed time approximately under 2hours. The wind dropped to around 5-6kn wearing to SSE. Second race took Div.1 to Snake Bell Buoy, spin. run to leeward mark and finish. Div.2 had a nice race WW/ LW marks.
The third race club ward, run- started, giving Brian, our newly race interested photographer to take few interesting photos. The run to the club was so fast that the committee boat could not catch up to time their finish. However thanks to the effort of Rick and Brian, the tender made it ahead of the fleet and timed their finish.
The day race was completed with Tom’s Hot Chilly and cool suds. Many thanks to all contributors: Rick. ,Aurelia, Brian and Tom for a great race day.
